Carefree Days

As Wiki says;

Living carefree means enjoying a life where worries do not overwhelm you.

Learn how to get active, manage your stress, and stay carefree.

I remember being a child growing into a teenager and all I ever wanted was my independence. This isn’t such a bad thing but it definitely meant I grew up a lot faster than my peers and those around me. I moved out of home at 18 years old, moved country at 20 years old with my partner and got my first-time gig as a Graphic Designer in a big-time agency. Got a tax return. Started a successful business with my partner at the age of 21. Left my job at 21 and signed my first retail lease deal in Highpoint Shopping Centre. Starting paying high tax. At 22 years old I then signed a 5 year retail lease agreement. Starting paying 5 figures monthly in rent. This took a good amount of time to get used to. Ran two stores while pregnant at 23 years old. Delivered my first baby at 24, nine months later suffered an emotional miscarriage. Got married at 26 years old and now currently pregnant with our second child and looking at lease deals for our business.

The time I have on my hands has been limited and gone quickly. The anxiety I get from my life experiences to date can sometimes be overwhelming, BUT I would honestly say these experiences have shaped me and prepared me for the future.

It teaches me to not take life so seriously.

Problems can be solved.

You can do what you put your mind to.

Money comes and goes and I quickly got used to not being attached to it.

Be thankful. Be grateful. Let go.

Most importantly at the end of the day, your family and well-being are what really matters.

If someone asked you today; “What does carefree mean to you?” what would you say?

Why does it always feel like being carefree isn’t achievable? I would say STRESS has a big part of that. It clouds our judgements, puts unwanted voices in our minds and creates a habit of uncertainty and allows anxiety to creep in. Being a mother running a business doesn’t leave a lot of spare time but like everyone, we need to make the time. Then lays the opportunity to go and do it. Do you get up and do it? Or does the couch feel safer?

Believe me, I have been there and at times I can creep back into that dark hole. Being carefree is something we should practice in our downtime. When you get a spark of energy to do something different. When you feel enough is enough, I want to get out and just do something for myself.

So here are my top 6 things to do on our journey of being carefree:

ONE – A WALK ALONG THE BEACH
If you have a friend with you, get them to take photos of you at this moment to remember how free you felt and to encourage you to do it again.
TWO – GO ON A JOY RIDE SOMEWHERE RURAL
This might be with your children, partner or friend. Make stops along the way trying new foods, getting out at fields or gardens for photos, listen to that playlist you love. Tip: do it on a sunny day and take your time.
THREE – WATERHOLE
Growing up in New Zealand we loved these hidden gems. Something we would do around our New Year holidays, it was always fun. If taking children, be careful around water as you don’t always know how deep these waterholes are. I can’t wait for summer!
FOUR – REAL LIFE PAINTING
I love this one! I’m crap at painting but just the experience to do this would be amazing! In a field, park or open space but still private enough. I couldn’t think of anything better than a bottle of wine with a good friend or your partner doing this. You might be the next Picasso 🙂
FIVE – DATE NIGHT UNDER THE STARS
This might be the most romantic idea I’ve ever seen. Do you have a good-sized backyard or know a place where you could do this? Get a big rug, blanket, some big throws, enclosed candles, lanterns and some amazing snacks and you’ve got yourself an ultimate bachelor vibe going. My Dad has a house on a farm with a great sized “maintained” lawn, I think this might just be a priority for a date night with the hubby. Tip: Accommodation/Air BNB spots are great for this.
SIX – A BIKE RIDE
If you can get yourself down to a local beach hire a bike or if you happen to own a bike go to an open track/reserve. You can do this by yourself and just enjoy nature. Don’t plan where to bike to. Just bike. Enjoy the fresh air and take photos along the way to remember your day and how it made you feel.

I hope some of these carefree ideas inspire you to take some time out for yourself. To better manage your stress levels; address the emotion you feel at the time. Don’t ignore it. Don’t be afraid. Breathe.
